Youth parade, no commercial floats or entries The parade is set to begin at 11 a.m. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., local artists, sculptors and crafters will adorn downtown businesses with their masterpieces, and maps will be available. From 11 a.m. to noon Straus will entertain the crowd with live jazz and blues music, to be followed by dance entertainment and a flag raising ceremony at 1 p.m. The 9th Battalion Rifles will be offering a 21-gun salute in honour of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. Andean music from Equador, Cochrane fast-gun demonstrations straight from the Old West, and the Canada Day Family Concert. Fort Calgary Historic Park - Dominion Day
plans to celebrate the diversity of cultures that helped found Canada with an outdoor day of family fun. The first 500 people to arrive after 9 a.m. will be treated to a pancake breakfast. There will be a flag-raising ceremony at 9:30 a.m., followed by games, face painting and children's entertainers. The Global Stage will feature 18 performances by such artists as the Sassenach Highland Dancers, the Calgary Metis Dancers, the RCMP K-9 Show, the U of C pipe band and Wagonstage Children's Theatre.
